IP-Net

IP-Net is the brainchild of Max Morales, the Director of Pangrac and Associates Latin American Division. It represents the integration of the "best of breed" products for delivering IP based services to households and businesses with the greatest reliability and lowest cost. It allows the delivery of Television, Data, and Telephony, on demand, over an IP based system, and is wide open for future applications. No bandwidth is wasted delivering content that is not being viewed.

IP-Net integrates:

Hybrid Fiber Coax (HFC)

Advent Networks IP Transport over HFC

Interactive Content Engines Servers (Everything, Any Time (TM))

Advent Home Gateway with POTS telephony interface, 10/100 Ethernet

IP-Net Set Top, with Ethernet In, RF and Video out (remarkably low cost)

HFC: Invented by Dave Pangrac and Don Gall, and adopted over the last decade by virtually every cable system worldwide. There are many variations in HFC, but fundamentally the system is divided into neighborhoods of 25 to 2000 subscribers, each fed with a dedicated fiber. Each neighborhood can have a completely different signal profile on their fiber, allowing the bandwidth for Everything On Demand for each subscriber.

Advent Networks: Provides five to forty megabits per second, unshared, for each subscriber, which allows all services (telephony, data, television) to be delivered on demand. No bandwidth need be wasted delivering content that no one is watching -- all switching is accomplished at the headend.

Interactive Content Engines: Remarkably low cost per stream, uncompromised reliability, any content, massive storage. Everything, Any Time (TM).

IP-Net Set Top: Remarkably inexpensive due to simplifications that IP-Net allows, the IP-Net Set Top has an Ethernet input and video and RF outputs. It allows Internet content and email to be accessed via the TV, as well as decoding and decrypting video content.

Other issues solved by the IP-Net approach include content distribution and protection, cost minimization through shared facilities, remote management, and real time encoding for Network PVR functionality.
