Peter "Pekelo" Cosma was born and raised in the remote town of Hana, on the island of Maui. His vocal and ki ho`alu (slack-key) styling were greatly influenced by the late Gabby Pahinui and The Sons of Hawai`i. He has since joined The Sons of Hawai`i, and he performs with them on their all-too-infrequent appearances, while still maintaining a solo career on O`ahu and Maui.
